Damage & Loss Policy
1. Condition of Garments
Every garment is professionally cleaned and inspected before hire. Photos are taken of each item’s condition. Minor wear (such as light marks or pulled threads) may occur and does not affect the garment’s quality or fit.
2. Care Responsibilities
You agree to take reasonable care of the hired garment. Avoid contact with makeup, fake tan, food, drink, deodorant, and perfumes that may stain or damage delicate fabrics. Do not attempt to clean, wash, or alter garments yourself.
3. Normal Wear vs Damage
Normal wear is light, short-term use during your event. Damage includes but is not limited to:

Rips, tears, burns, or holes

Permanent stains (e.g. fake tan, red wine, makeup)

Stretching or shrinking of fabric

Missing embellishments or straps

Water damage or mould
4. Repair, Replacement & Fees
If an item is returned with minor repairable damage, you agree to pay the reasonable repair cost as determined by our preferred repairer.
If a garment is damaged beyond repair, lost, or not returned, you agree to pay the full retail replacement value stated on your invoice.
Where replacement is required, ownership of the damaged item remains with Bax to Basics Dress Hire Co.
5. Lost / Unreturned Items
If an item is not returned within 7 days of the due date and no contact is made, we may charge the full retail value and report the item as missing property if necessary.
6. Courier Loss or Delays
We use tracked delivery. Once dispatched, risk passes to the courier until the item is delivered. We are not responsible for delays or losses caused by postal services, but we will assist with claims where possible.
7. Security Bonds
A pre-authorisation or bond may be taken to cover potential damage, late returns, or loss. Any unused amount will be released once the garment is returned and inspected.
8. Acknowledgement
By confirming your booking, you accept this Damage & Loss Policy and agree to pay any applicable repair or replacement fees.
